Fill the Pothole and Fix the Window!
In 2025, St. Luke’s was proud to become listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. This recognition opens opportunities to apply for matching grants to help us preserve our beautiful historic buildings and improve our property. Your donations make it possible to build the capital necessary to make these essential repairs happen!
You can make a donation now via Tithely by selecting “Building Fund”, or use one of the specially-marked envelopes available at the church, located at the back of the nave or in the entrance to the parish house.
Fill the Pothole!

In vintage photos we can see a rectory standing beside St. Luke’s on Wyoming Avenue. The rectory was torn down years ago, and in its place the Warren Memorial Garden now grows, with our parking lot behind it to Forest Court. However, as the asphalt has settled, the foundations of the former rectory have created bumps and ridges in our parking lot, enough that we now find a “duck pond” where the chimney used to be!
These bumps and ridges pose a risk for the undercarriages of cars, as well as collect snow and ice in the winter. The Vestry is currently collecting bids to have the problems areas of the parking lot leveled and resurfaced, making our parking lot safer and more accessible to parishioners and visitors alike.
Fix the Window!

Up the flight of stairs opposite the entry to the parish house, you will find a large, stained-glass window. Before the recent roof repairs, water seeped around the masonry of this window, eating away at the mortar and plaster. This detritus has been shedding continually since, not only destabilizing the window but also making a mess of the space upstairs.
In order to preserve the historic exterior of the parish house, the interior must be repaired. A mason will use materials and techniques that align with the methods used in the building of the parish house – such as lime-rich mortar that allows the structure to “breathe” – to ensure this kind of water damage does not occur again.
The Vestry appreciates any donation you can give to help maintain and preserve our properties. As these projects proceed, please check back for updates and new photos of repairs!
